Screenings Will Continue at Century Plaza

LOS ANGELES: On speculations that The Century Plaza, the L.A. Screenings yearly locale, would be torn down, Isabella Márquez, the president at Events TM, confirmed the event will continue to be held there until at least 2013.

“The hotel guaranteed that nothing will happen for the next five years,” Márquez said in an interview with World Screen. The hotel was acquired a year and a half ago and Márquez added, “When someone buys a property, he or she has to keep his or her options open. One option was to make two new buildings, but it was just a thought and I don’t think its something they’re going to allow.”

In a letter addressed to its clients, David Horowitz, the Century Plaza’s general manager, wrote: “As you may know the ownership of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza announced a future planned redevopment of the Century Plaza hotel. This exciting project is currently in the early planning phases and will not commence for a number of years; in fact the earliest start date is projected to be in 2013. Rest assured that your business is important to Hyatt and your experience working here will not be affected. We look forward to many years of our continued partnership together.”
